Divorce
If you are in the middle of a divorce, considering divorce, or need help working through the emotional after-effects of divorce, our counselors can help you no matter which stage you are in. Divorce takes a heavy toll. You don’t need to remain suffering forever. Our goal at Wellness Counseling is to work closely together with our clients to figure out how we can best support you during these difficult times.
You will most likely be going through the 5 stages of grief which include:
- Denial
- Anger
- Bargaining
- Depression
- Acceptance
Keep in mind that working through a major life shift takes time and dedication. We specialize in working with children, families, and adults of all ages who are experiencing stress brought on by divorce.
Due to their age, children are not able to comprehend all of the new adjustments. They know that their world is changing but they might not be able to communicate how they feel, what they need, etc. and you may see some changes in their overall demeanor. Having a counselor guide them through could be extremely helpful for you and them.
How you deal with the changes & transitions will affect them. If you are frequently angry, stressed, & spiteful, they will pick up on your demeanor; giving them the message that you are not okay, they are not okay & they could begin to mimic those same expressions. You are bound to have hard days, but those days could be a lot fewer and far between with a therapist there to assist you.
I have learned to use the word impossible with the greatest caution.
