Relationship Issues

Relationship Issues

As humans, we crave connection. The relationships we build and keep in our lives can affect our mental health. Learning how to set boundaries within these relationships is extremely important.

If you’re having difficulty with self-love or in other relationships in your life, therapy can be a move in the right direction. You are not on this journey alone. Together we can create goals and boundaries unique to your situation and work as a team to resolve issues that might be coming up for you.

In each relationship, there are two people with different backgrounds, different experiences, and different views trying to find a common ground. It’s extremely helpful to have guidance from a private practice therapist who can help you learn how to build healthy, sustainable relationships with others and yourself.

We provide in-person therapy across Bergen, Hudson, and Essex Counties in New Jersey, and virtual therapy throughout NJ, NY, and PA. Our out-of-network practice makes specialized care simple: we bill your insurance directly, and you only pay your portion at the time of your session. No upfront costs, no paperwork, and no waiting for reimbursement. We verify your benefits before your first appointment so you know exactly what you’ll owe, making high-quality therapy accessible and hassle-free.

Frequently Asked Questions:

🧠 Therapy & Services - Do you offer a free consultation?

We don’t automatically offer separate consultation calls — most clients prefer to dive right into their first session.

However, if you’d like to connect with your therapist before your appointment, you’re more than welcome to email them once your intake paperwork is complete. If requested, your therapist will be happy to schedule a brief call to answer questions and help you feel at ease before getting started.

At Wellness Counseling, we want you to feel comfortable and supported from day one — in whatever way works best for you.

🧠 What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer therapy that meets you where you are — and helps you move forward.

Our specialties include:

  • Individual Therapy
  • Couples & Family Therapy
  • Child & Teen Therapy
  • Anxiety, Depression & OCD Treatment
  • Life Transitions & Stress Management
  • Trauma-Informed Care
  • Postpartum & Infertility Support
  • Grief and loss counseling
  • Premarital Counseling
  • School Issues & ADHD counseling

We use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Trained Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy — always personalized to you.

📍 Locations & Accessibility - Where are you located?

We have three beautiful office locations in New Jersey:

Hoboken (Hudson County): 84 Washington Street Suite 3B Hoboken, NJ 07030

Plus, we offer virtual sessions throughout New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY) & Pennsylvania (PA) so you can meet with your therapist from the comfort of your couch.

💻 Do you offer online sessions?

Absolutely! We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy for clients in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. It’s the same quality care — just comfier pants.

💳 Insurance & Coverage - Are you in-network with my insurance?

We’re not in-network — and that’s actually a good thing for your care.

Here’s why:

At Wellness Counseling, our therapists aren’t overloaded with unrealistic caseloads or rushed sessions. We intentionally keep schedules manageable so every therapist can provide the time, attention, and care you deserve — not just what fits into an insurance company’s quota.

As an out-of-network practice, you still get to use your insurance benefits (we even bill your plan directly!), but you also get:

  • Same-week availability — we can usually get you in fast.
  • Thoughtful therapist matching — we take time to pair you with the right clinician for your needs and personality.
  • Consistent quality care — your therapist can focus fully on you, not on hitting session quotas.
  • Continuity — you won’t be suddenly reassigned or limited in your care because of insurance panel changes.
  • A concierge-style experience — we handle verification, billing, and coordination so you can focus on feeling better, not fighting with your insurance.

So while we’re out-of-network, you still get all the benefits of insurance coverage — plus the personalized, high-quality experience that’s often missing in traditional in-network settings.

🌍 What does Out-of-Network mean?

“Out-of-network” simply means we’re not part of your insurance company’s in-network list — but that doesn’t mean you can’t use your benefits.

At Wellness Counseling, we take care of the entire process for you: We confirm your coverage, bill your insurance directly, and receive payment from them on your behalf.

You just pay your portion (coinsurance or balance, if any) — and that’s it!

No paperwork, no superbill, no stress.

💳 Do you accept insurance?

Guess what? We want you to use your out-of-network (OON) insurance benefits!

You have them — why not use them?

Here’s how it works:

  • We verify your coverage for you (no endless hold times, promise). Text us for prompt service!
  • We submit each session directly to your insurance.
  • Insurance pays us directly, and you’re only responsible for your coinsurance and any small balance bill if they pay under our session fee.
  • No superbills, no hassle — just therapy that fits your life.

💬 How do I verify my insurance benefits?

Easy! Just complete a request online through our Appointment Request Form or text us for faster service at 551-310-3020.

We’ll take it from there — our team will verify your benefits directly with your insurance company and let you know exactly what your out-of-network coverage looks like before your first session.

No phone calls, no hold music — just clarity and peace of mind.

💬 Do you know how much my insurance will cover per session?

Once we verify your out-of-network benefits, we can give you a close estimate of what your insurance will reimburse.

Every plan is different, but our team will break it all down for you clearly — no surprises.

🧾 What’s the difference between a coinsurance and a copay?

Great question!

  • Copay: A flat fee you pay each visit (like $20 or $40).
  • Coinsurance: A percentage of the session fee that your insurance covers after your deductible is met.

Think of it like this — if your insurance covers 80%, your coinsurance is

the 20% you’re responsible for.

💰 What does deductible mean?

Your deductible is the amount you have to pay out-of-pocket each year before your insurance starts covering services.

Example: If your deductible is $500, you’ll pay for sessions until you reach that amount — then your coinsurance kicks in.

📑 What is balance billing?

If your insurance pays less than our session fee, the remaining small amount is your balance bill — kind of like a mini invoice for the difference.

Don’t worry, we’ll always be transparent about costs before your first

session.

📄 Do you provide superbills?

Nope! We skip that whole process.

We bill insurance directly so you don’t have to lift a finger or chase down reimbursements. We’ve got you covered.

🧾 Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

We don’t accept Medicare or Medicaid at this time, but we’re happy to provide affordable reduced-rate options or help you find a trusted referral.

💸 Rates & Policies - What are your session rates?

Our session rates are simple and transparent:

  • Individual Therapy: $225 per session
  • Couples & Family Therapy: $250 per session

We believe your mental health is one of the best investments you can make — and we make it easy to use your insurance benefits).

💵 Do you offer reduced rates or a sliding scale?

Yes, we do!

Reduced-rate sessions are available with our associate therapists offer sessions at $75 while in training.

We believe therapy should be accessible, and we’ll help you find an option

that works for your budget.

⏰ What is your cancellation policy?

We get it — life happens!

If you need to cancel or reschedule, we just ask for 48 hours’ notice so we can offer the slot to another client.

Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged the full session rate.

Trusted by our clients

I started visiting the wellness group a few years ago when I was really at a low point. Looking back, I didn’t even know who I was! Over the years, the girls here have helped me find a way to not only figure out what was holding me back, but how to really just wake up with the confidence I never thought possible. Please take my words and hear me out, this is THE place !!! The fact that I never had to feel alone on my path to where I needed to be, was more than I could ask for 🙂

~ Client

I highly recommend this group to anyone. Taylor is an amazing therapist, she is patient, supportive and a great listener. She has changed my outlook on life for the better!

~ Client

My therapist is absolutely amazing. They’re the best therapist I’ve ever had and they always listen to what i have to say and have helpful coping mechanisms for me to try, many of which have improved my mental health tremendously. I couldn’t ask for a better therapist.

~ Client

Dr. Politis helped my oldest daughter during a difficult divorce and I could not be more grateful. She truly cares and relates to adolescents and young adults. Her office staff were communicative with scheduling and insurance which was very helpful. She is one of the only therapy offices that accepts insurance and handles it for you. In the past I always had to submit myself. The other therapists that work there are great too-very warm and well trained.
